Jeff joined AFG in 2010 coming out of retirement to facilitate fund development and in 2012 became 40% partner. Prior to joining AFG, Jeff served as the President of Cargill Value Investment Group from 1993 to 2008. Jeff was responsible for all activities in loan portfolio acquisitions, real estate, high yield debt and special opportunities. Under Jeff, the Value Investment Group activities grew from less than $50 million in assets to over $10 billion in assets, consistently exceeding 20% annual returns. In 2007 Value Investment raised its first global third party fund with over $5 billion in institutional capital. At the time of his retirement in February of 2008, the group was operating out of 10 offices around the globe and managing in excess of $10 billion.
Jeff joined Cargill in 1981 working in the company’s Strategy and Business Development Department working on business strategies and acquisitions. From 1983 to 1993 Jeff held various management positions in Cargill Leasing Corporation and in Cargill’s Value Investment Group. Jeff is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and a Masters Degree in Finance.
